Halloween Safety

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Halloweenstreet.com would like to give you a few Halloween safety tips to help prevent the “accidental accident” on this annual of day “make believe”.

1. Be sure that an adult or responsible teen is along the way during Trick or Treating.

2. Be sure that if your child is carrying a “prop” that it is not too tall, has smooth edges and corners and is flexible and light weight.

3. Costumes should be of flame retardent fabric, as are all Halloween costumes at Halloweenstreet.com

4. Be sure that costumes are not too long for children to prevent tripping or any falls.

5. Be sure to use reflective tape on any dark fabrics of costumes.

Halloween is an exciting annual event. Keep it safe. Halloweenstreet.com wishes you a safe Halloween season.

Halloween’s Basic Black

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Remember that “basic black dress” or “basic black robe“? Well, even Halloween has “basic” black for women, children and men. Why not consider that for your next Halloween costume?

Purchase a basic “witch costume“. Use it as a witch costume accessorizing with witch socks, witch shoe covers, long black or gray wig and long, black nails. Next time, add feathers or a boa, fishnet pantyhose, metallic nails, sequined belt and even some “bling” and now a new, fresh look has been created! Simple, easy and inexpensive!

Got a “basic” black robe with or without a hood? Add makeup and become the grim reaper. Use again and add makeup or another “scary” mask and create your own, special ghoul costume. Add gloves or horror hands for that extra, added frightful character! Simple and economical.

HALLOWEENSTREET.COM can help you with these Halloween costume ideas with a wide variety of Halloween costumes to select from our Halloween store.

The ABC’s of Pumpkin Carving for Halloween

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

The pumpkin is the ultimate symbol of Halloween. Everyone needs to know the basic carving techniques. Here are some recommended by Halloweenstreet.com

1. Select your favorite shaped pumpkin. Draw a circle or hexagon on top for an opening the size of your hand. Cut through the stem end of the pumpkin along the line of your circle using a back and forth motion.

2. Remove the stem and top and with a large spoon or scooper remove all of the seeds and pulp from the inside of the pumpkin.

3. Draw the pattern or face on the front with a felt-tip pen. With the same knife or carving tool, carve out the face that was drawn. Be sure that all of the features are large. Push the pieces outside of the pumpkin for easy removal.

4. Place a votive candle or light stick inside to create the eerie, scary glow!

Here is an example of a pumpkin carved up with a light stick:
