Would you have ever guessed that a mad scientist’s favorite television show would be So You Think You Can Dance? Me neither, but all that spinning and leaping and hip shaking! I just can’t get enough! Plus, now that SYTYCD auditions are over, we’ll soon be seeing bedazzled and befringed costumes adding to the amusement. Costumes + Dancing = A Very Happy Professor Dippel.

Do you like to dance? No, I didn’t ask if you think you can dance. You may have two left feet and an upside down leg, but there’s something about moving to the rhythm that’s so exciting and empowering. Just ask Carmen Miranda. Do you think she wore a basket of fruit on her head in case she got hungry? She wore that signature up-do because it gave her the extra confidence and sparkle she needed to shine on stage.

At HalloweenStreet, we’ve got an array of dance costumes, representing styles that span the decades. Feeling vintage? Ladies can recall the roaring twenties with a flapper dress costume and a jazzy 20s era wig. Don’t leave Fido out — there’s a flapper dog costume for her, too! Your pooch will be the cat’s meow and the bee’s knees.

Or what about taking cues from another favorite decade, the swinging 60s? Embody the free love spirit with our 60s mod go go girl costume or a 60s psychedelic dress. Men can join the party in a Woodstock hippie man costume. Groovy, man!

If you’re a fan of the 70s, ladies can get funky in a tie dye, gold-trimmed disco dancing costume while men can channel Studio 54 in a glittering 70s disco shirt. And if the 80s is your deal, show your respect with a King of Pop Michael Jackson costume that will get you moon walking right to the dance floor. Or live like an 80s pop star when you channel the Material Girl herself. But whichever you choose, don’t resist the urge to break out the Charleston, the Mashed Potato, the Hustle or the Thriller. It’s time to get your groove on.
