The ABC’s of Pumpkin Carving for Halloween
The pumpkin is the ultimate symbol of Halloween. Everyone needs to know the basic carving techniques. Here are some recommended by Halloweenstreet.com
1. Select your favorite shaped pumpkin. Draw a circle or hexagon on top for an opening the size of your hand. Cut through the stem end of the pumpkin along the line of your circle using a back and forth motion.
2. Remove the stem and top and with a large spoon or scooper remove all of the seeds and pulp from the inside of the pumpkin.
3. Draw the pattern or face on the front with a felt-tip pen. With the same knife or carving tool, carve out the face that was drawn. Be sure that all of the features are large. Push the pieces outside of the pumpkin for easy removal.
4. Place a votive candle or light stick inside to create the eerie, scary glow!
